Today bandura is already not simply a musical instrument. It is one of the symbols, which makes Ukraine cognate by the world. As usual, the matter concerns exactly the performance of Ukrainian music, and mostly folk one. But this disc is a denial of these two basic stamps. In the first place, the compositions presented here are mostly the author's ones. In the second place, the authors themselves are not Ukrainians. Moreover, they are very famous – Chaikovskyi, Pyatsolla, Gendl, Vivaldi, Shubert. In that way, it is not for the first time, and let’s hope - not for the last time, that bandura demonstrates both its universality of a musical instrument and musical language as it is. In our time, when it is widely known that every day, somewhere at our planet, a war is taking place, each reminding of the possibility of such kind of universal communication is very important. After all, we consider ourselves to be sentient beings. So, we have to understand each other and to have inner understanding within us. Isn’t music a wonderful way of doing that?
