Ukrajins'kymy slovamy. Collection of Ukrainian Language Hip-Hop. (In Ukrainian Words)

It is even a bit strange. Hip-hop has been marching through Ukraine for over ten years already, and quite a bit of interesting groups have appeared during this time, and a few have become real stars – but this sort of collection appears for the first time. So, at least, its compilers say – and I am inclined to trust them, because I indeed somehow do not remember similar experiments. At least, among official releases. Although, on the other hand, almost all through this time such music has been considered non-format one – and only now, in the last year or two, it has begun appearing in Ukrainian broadcasts more or less often. Well, better late than never. In the end, as Fagot from TNMKongo correctly marked, in the West hip-hop long ago already became a part of pop-culture – and with us it is until now music of resistance. But no longer so hard one as once – it seems that exactly the transition from social acuteness to active integration into the pop-culture that is fixed with this compiling. I mean that in the songs represented here there is both fight, and lyricism, and philosophy of contemplation, and simply rest. And it means that the collection may be interesting not only for supporters of exactly such music – something new and fresh will be also discovered here by those who usually listen to other music.
