The Brutto band has never avoided poignant social issues – on the contrary, they keep plunging ever deeper into them. The lyrics, for a couple of exceptions, were composed by Mikhalok and Zhadan – obviously these are not that straightforward lyrics, despite some slogan aspects. About love, sure – but without romantically idealized cliches. But there are plenty of other semantic shades – and the palette is far from being that joyful. Life is hard – and these songs will not help one escape. On the contrary – they will help one to face it standing straight, looking it in the eye. "Fight for her", Zhadan wrote once. She is – the land, the destiny, the blood, the freedom.. The love, sure – with all the abysses and apexes of its meanings. The album sounds like a clenched fist, until the last track – "Godze" (watch the video, by the way) – when suddenly the fingers convulsively open up, but the heart squeezes instead, and there remains only one desperate desire: to protect. The cramp goes away. The heart is ready. Fight for her.

Audio cassette/ ..This is, without exaggeration, a legendary album. And it was not even about the list of the project's authors.. The album was first released in 2000 – and it was perhaps the first collection of insurgents' songs in modern arrangements in Ukraine. And it still, in my opinion, remains the best one.
