(item from the "Rare Discs" section) Promotional action of the album “Wild Dances” says that this is a revolution for the Ukrainian pop-music. I must admit that this is really so. This is a new and even somewhat revolutionary quality. Ruslana has always differed from the rest of the Ukrainian pop-singers by her special attitude to native musical traditions and traditions themselves. If her first steps in this direction were well-known Christmas concerts and actions aimed at renewal of castles and fortresses of the Western Ukraine, now in her creative work musical roots of the Carpathian mountains quite naturally are brought to the forefront. Combined with modern quality of a sound and a voice, as well as the manner of performance, which, I hope, touch everybody, this music just turns into a squall of an impassioned energy, impetuous and inspired, merry and light. My first Ruslana CD and my first CD from Ukraine... First it was very new to me, but when I heard this CD again and again, I was very impressed. In former times, I had never expected such powerful music from Ukraine.

I think Ruslana is the most amazing unique singer i have ever heard. I love how she uses traditional sounds and dances from Ukraine culture. As im a 1/4 Ukraine myself it makes me very proud. The best part was when i met Ruslana when she was promoting in Bolton it was throwing it down with rain and she stood and talked to me for ages. She gave me signed photographs ukrainian flag and a ruslana bag and let me have a picture took with her, signed my cd case gave me a kiss and calle dme her darling and gave me lots of hugs lol and im 18 i loved it. You hear of singers that are such divas but she is absolutly lovely and gorgeous even more in real life than she is in her pictures

Exelent quality music with a very nice sweet voice! I really do like all of the different instrumental sounds mixed in. Sounds real nice on the stereo but when you put on the headset you can really hear the top quality! Might even have Pink Floyd beat if you keep up with those sounds! Very nice!

Wild Dances is a spectacular album. Watching and loving Ruslana's performance in the Eurovision Song Contest, I bought the album from this very website; not only was I not disappointed, I was also very pleasantly surprised.
I think I read somewhere that Ruslana described her music as "music to set your soul on fire" or words to that effect. I couldn't have put it better myself. The music on this album makes me want to dance until I drop, and that's saying something. It lifts my mood like nothing else I've ever heard. The songs are extremely well orchestrated and the melodies simple but poignant. Ruslana's singing is absolutely beautiful, particularly on Ja Tebe Ljublju - a haunting love song that shivers the skin.
The folk influences on the album are melded perfectly with the more modern style that Ruslana brings to the mix, demonstrated superbly on the incredibly catchy Arcan. The instruments are used imaginatively to lend an incredibly rich and textured feel to the music. From start to finish, this is one of those albums that "take you on a journey", something I always thought was the sole domain of progressive rock albums and anything by Mike Oldfield. :)
In a nutshell, Wild Dances is a truly wild, beautiful heart-thumper of an album. I'm eternally grateful that Ruslana recorded it in her native language. I have no idea what the words mean, and I have no desire to find out - it's just perfect the way it is.
