Folk-show group "Ukrainian vechornytsi". Ukrajina – ljubov moja. (Ukraine – My Love)
This group consists of only four people – but, when you listen, it seems that there are at least twice more of them. And that is not surprising. For the two Gryzlov brothers have to deal with singing, playing the keyboard, accordion, kobza and tambourines. Plus singing by Svitlana Mustafa, and also Roman Soluk, in whose hands the panpipe, nai, clarinet and telychka sound. Such ramified specialization helps the group to create its saturated, colorful sound. Moreover, Volodymyr Gryzlov creates a lot of his own arrangements for famous pieces – and, consequently, even in performance of familiar songs and melodies, there appears something special, inherent exactly in this collective. Personally I like it most of all when in their songs accordion lines sound. However, possibly, you will notice here something different for yourself. But, in any case, this album absolutely manages its task – to create joyful, elated mood with the help of national colors.

WOW! This CD is a treasure and recommended to anyone who loves Ukrainian folk music. The Ukraine has so many diverse folk instruments it is interesting to learn of their origins and use. I had to research the kobza since I was not familiar with it. Similar to the mandolin, it's roots in the Ukraine go back to the 1300's, and similar instruments may have been used in as early as 500. It was traditionally used by a bard or minstrel. There is a diversity of music from lively folk, to quieter tracks all are done professionally giving much enjoyment to the listener. This CD will be enjoyed for many years to come.
