"In his book, Mykola Arkas has collected the entire history of the Ukrainian people till the early twentieth century. This is a reprint of the 2nd (non-censured) edition of "The History of Ukraine-Rus" by Mykola Arkas, which was published in Krakow in 1912. It had been prepared for publication by Bohdan Lepky and Vyacheslav Lypynsky already after the death of the author and of Vasyl Domanytsky – the editor of the 1st edition of 1908 (Petersburg, censored). Most of the copies of the book's 2nd edition were burned by Russian troops during the First World War, and thus it became a bibliographic rarity. According to Yevhen Chykalenko, this book is the most useful one after "Kobzar".
