"Dahlia" is actually a full-fledged development of the idea announced with the disc "My Heart is Vulnerable...". And this is what the official press release says about the album: "Work on the album, which lasted over five years, took place in three global centers of the Ukrainian culture – it began in Toronto, continued in Kyiv and was completed in New York. The core of the album is formed by music pieces by Bogdan Vesolovsky – the composer who lived in Lviv in the 1930-40s and later emigrated for Canada for political reasons. The work carried out by Oleh and his team can be described as restoration – the unique music materials discovered in Toronto for many years were not performed for the public. In due time, when this music played, all the Galician and Bukovyna youth danced with it, and now modern ladies and gentlemen will also be able to enjoy the elegance, delicacy, and the light humor of the songs from our music heritage... "I consider that the "retro" style, in which the album "Dahlia" is performed, is elegant – Oleh Skrypka says. – Moreover, jazz, tango, foxtrot, swing are generally considered European and overseas genres, and with this project I want to demonstrate that our country as well has its own rich, unique and high quality music history." In terms of the sound, one would call this album, quite unexpectedly, ... a collection of romantic songs. The manner of performance, the melody pattern are somewhat reminiscent of Ukrainian "vocal and instrumental ensembles" of the 1970s-80s: there was in that music a sort of sunshine, innocent, trusting openness to the world. Rogachevsky is the current guitarist of "VV". Starting from as long back as 1998. But he was also engaged in music earlier – actually, fruits of those exercises are collected in this double disk. Дякую за отриманий диск О. Скрипки "Жоржина". Коли слухаєш ці пісні, подумки поринаєш у 30-ті роки минулого сторіччя, коли грали такі музиканти як Дізі Гілєспі та Глен Міллєр.

Можна по-різному ставитись до творчості О. Скрипки, але справу для нашої культури він робить велику й корисну. Ім*я Весоловського потрібно повернути Україні, як і весь чудовий світ західноукраїнської музики й літератури 30-років. Там є ті ноти внутрішньої свободи, що їх мені завжди бракувало у творчості "центристів". Історичні передумови цього цілком зрозумілі.

Українська музика як великий пазл, у якому бракує багато частин. Через відомі обставини Україна була викреслена з музичного процесу. Це стосується зокрема і 30-х років. Богдан Весоловський, до повернення якого долучився також Олег Скрипка, зробив свого часу неймовірне. Конкурувати з польською музику було вкрай важко (згадайте хоча б Єжі Петерсбурського, його відомі хіти "To ostatnia niedziela" (у рос. перекладі "Утомленное солнце"), "Ні я, ні ти" у виконанні Эдіт Піаф тощо).
А Скрипка не перестає дивувати. Здається, ніхто не зробив для української естради так, як він. Позитив від альбому неабиякий!
