Retroskop. Vesnyany tvist. /digi-pack/. (Spring Twist)

On the one hand, release of the album "Spring Twist" is a nostalgic gesture, because it contains recordings of 1994-95, and the "Retroskop" band no longer exists. But there is also another aspect. There is a trace, reflection, which is so genuine in its purity, in almost naive romanticism, that it is sheer nonsense to call it outdated or unnecessary. Rather, it is something that is often lacking today – not only in music, but also in everyday life. Love to simple beauty – that is, probably, what in due time conditioned emergence of the "Retroskop" band. And it should be noted that their liking for the music of the 1950s-60s was noticeable not only in performance of "classics of the genre". Members of the band were able to create a set of their own songs that in their expressiveness and beauty of melodies do not yield to the best examples of works by the leading Ukrainian vocal and instrumental ensembles of the past. Therefore, as stated in the annotation for the disc – for all those who respect the music genres that prevailed in the mid-twentieth century, this disc can be a true present and revelation...
