"For the first time, I heard poetry by Vilde Heggem. It happened in late May 2012 in Lillehammer at the Norwegian Literary Festival. Heggem was the last one to perform. And her performance enchanted. Heggem has the unique ability to keep the audience in a daze of grace and force it to catch every word, moreover – every pause, because there might be even more silence in her poems than the actual words or sounds. I immediately thought of the Swedish writer Helena Ericksson, whose texts I had translated before: the same poetry of understatement, the poetry of the unsaid (in the sense of Beckett), the poetry of "what-you-cannot-speak-of-you-should-keep-silent-about". Heggem went even further in her study of the language than Ericksson. I became immensely interested in seeing those texts on paper..." Lev Hrytsiuk
