National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Nataliya Rozhko.

Natalia Rozhko is a young but already well known (and not only in Ukraine) Ukrainian composer. She graduated from the conservatory and the post-graduate school of the National Music Academy from the class of Evgen Stankovych – and this is the case when the teacher can be proud of his student. Not only because he succeeded in revealing a real talent – but also because the student did not choose the way of duplication, immediate inheritance. Even the fact that in the pieces represented there are quite a lot of references to Ukrainian folklore – does not contradict the abovementioned. Natalia Rozhko has her own expressive ways wandering along which is real pleasure for the audience. She composes deep, not flat pictures with a lot of fine and tiny details – but at that she leaves a surprisingly large space for imagination, offers a few keys for understanding and interpretation at once. Actually, in our annotation we consciously limit ourselves to the general phrases, because sorting such music on verbal shelves is an ungrateful thing. They are too delicious for that, thus they deserve complete attention not conditioned by anybody's explanations. Drink it – this water quenches thirst but also leaves space for continuation...

Valentyn Sylvestrov, Kyiv Camerata. Meditation (symphony for violoncello and chamber orchestra).

His "Meditation" is a symphony for a violoncello and a chamber orchestra. Meditation in a general sense is a state, a process and quality at the same time.
