In fact, this is already the second album by Dislocados, but the first one was released in the U.S. – so, for Ukraine it is to some extent a debut. However, it is some other aspect that matters. For example, the fact that this is a project by
Ilya Yeresko, one of the most technically-skilled and, so to say, charismatic pianists of the new generation in the Ukrainian jazz. Or – that it is virtually the only project in Ukraine performing and releasing jazz salsa. Or – and this is, after all, just cool – that Dislocados perform authors' Latin American music, not arrangements of gems of the style (though that would be, you should agree, natural). The music is sophisticated, bright, high-quality, multidimensional – and just rich. Real. There, really, it is not that the consciousness determines one's being, but rather the other way round... Frankly speaking, none of the Umka.com team was a fan of Hard Salsa – but, believe me, this in no way prevented us from enjoying what we heard. A very sunny, powerful work – and even an arrangement of the famous "Billie Jean" sounds completely organic here. However, it is not surprising. Yeresko has repeatedly proved his really high level of professionalism – so, one should hardly have expected anything different.
