Studio theater "Arabesque", Mikolaj Trzaska. Krytychni dni. Music for performance. (Periods)
...and before – I did not feel, and did not really look for it. Moreover, it is exactly this disc (together with a few others) was resulted in that I came to love the sounding of the saxophone, its multi-dimensional displays. Mikołaj Trzaska is a wonderful, expressive impressionist. In addition, a realistic one. I think that the world of fine arts lost a lot – but received not less – when he chose the saxophone, not a brush with paints.
...moreover, a number of interesting people were involved into creation of this music. Among them, for example, Mykhaylo Barbara from "Mertvy Piven", or Halyna Breslavets from the wonderful group "Oyra". As here they play both Ukrainian and Polish music – the project has appeared not only friendly but also an international one. And as everything began exactly with friendship, the result is also – warm, friendly, sincere.
...just before one's eyes. That is, when listening to, for example, the play "Two women who have not seen each other for a long time" – you will clearly see the women, and a small square where they met, the color of their hair and temperaments, will be able to discern the voice of each of them. Such expressiveness of performance really thrills.
...good, with such music you simply feel good.

Konstantin Ionenko. Noema. /digi-pack/.

..these are anyway not flashes or explosions, but – light fog, hints, mid-tones, mid-shades.. Heat and cool interweave here rather whimsically – one only needs to make a little step aside to be inside, in the heart of the music, and for it to appear in one's heart.

Gregory Nemirovsky. SonGs in the Key of Odd. /eco-pack/.

As the title promises, the album has turned out quite strange – but in a good sense. This is the strangeness that can only be afforded by good, versatile musicians – otherwise, originality may easily turn into farce, showing off. This did not happen here – one virtually feels with one's skin in what a thin, delicate way all of that is compiled.

Dmitry "Bobeen" Alexandrov, Jazz Atmosphere. Time After Break.

On the one hand, there seems no be nothing superfluous – even Aleksandrov, oddly enough, has not added too much pepper, even though he knows how to do it at the level of "excellent". And on the other – the organism works so smoothly, without failures, that the entire album literary flies at one breath...

Sax Kings. Fever. /digi-pack/.

"Fever" is a studio work. So, on the one hand, there is no living "breathing of the audience", the proper concert experience. But on the other – there is no room for concerns, everything is polished to shine (although, I must say, at concerts the quartet also sounds so smoothly that sometimes it seems almost unbelievable)...

Kyiv saxophone quartet. Swing cocktail. Live in Concert. /digi-pack/.

"Swing Cocktail" is a present for all those who love the emotions of "live" recordings and, respectively, concert features of performance of evergreens. Moreover, this time the purely saxophone composition has been expanded – on the album, you will have a chance to hear the clarinet, piano, bass, and drums. They do not sound in every piece – in this case, these are rather spices.

Sax Kings. Classics & Jazz. Live in concert. /digi-pack/.

The album is a collection of concert recordings – and here, you will find not only jazz evergreens performed by the saxophone quartet, which would be quite natural. As evident from the title – "Classics & Jazz", half of the album is composed of classical pieces – Bach, Purcell, Bizet – and this is, admittedly, very specific pleasure.

DOK. DVA. /digi-pack/.

"Brutal pop power" – so they call it. But there is a great temptation to also add other words: post-rock plus acoustic acid jazz with trip hop education – something like this, probably. However, all these names do not contradict each other – because music like this as it is means going beyond the limits of specific style...

Gregory Nemirovsky. Mirages.

...the silent poetry of the atmospheric, almost supernatural winds appeared against the background of clear, transparent rhythms and sometimes fluctuating, changeable bass and key lines. This music seems to pull into some mystic circle, however – it also tears, transforms it with sporadic emotional splashes, does not let it calm down melancholically, provokes attention.

Vitaliy Ivanov Quartet. Returning live.

It sounds as very delicate, intelligent combination of clear feelings and attentive reflections. All through the time while the disc sounds, one has the haunting feeling that the musicians realize themselves and the space around literally at every second – and are able to instantly react to its every motion, because they have inside a full degree of freedom and mastery.

Kaktus Fresh. Kaktus in Kolo live.

Thus, the concert within the project Jazz-Kolo, April, 2007. First, you will not find here cliché standards – authors' compositions by our musicians sound here only. And secondly – pay attention to the participants list...

Skhid-Side. SkhidSideMen. /digi-pack/

It is musicians of the group that said about their "SkhidSideMen" album that the world had seen pure jazz. I won't argue – as personally I had exactly the same feeling about this music. The feeling of pure, fair, simple in its wisdom – fire...

Skhid-Side. Brand New.

...they say that it is exactly the album "Brand New" of exactly “East-Side” that is the best jazz music album of 2005 in Ukraine. Everybody will decide by himself how much it corresponds to the reality.

Igor Dyachenko. A Soulful Sax. One Session in Kiev.

Igor Djachenko is a remarkable Kyiv saxophonist with huge experience and skills that one could envy. His saxophone is not an instrument, it is a voice of a person who grieves and dances, enjoys ice cream and plants a tree near the house. As a rule...

I purchased this CD after listening to the song samples on this site. I was initially impressed, but after I received the CD and listened to the songs all the way through, I really did not like it. This is one of the most boring CDs I have ever owned. The music is sparse, dull, and lifeless. Some of the songs do not even sound like music, but rather like noise. I was very disappointed. I did not think that the saxophone could sound bad, but this CD has proven that it is possible!
