(item from the "Rare Discs" section) Even for those who don’t follow the developments of jazz music but follow the developments of Ukrainian variety art in general, the title “East-Side” should be well known. It should be known at least because an excellent album of the group TNMKongo "Jazzy" appeared exactly thanks to the fruitful cooperation with Skhid-Side. But this is the information from the one side of the stage. From the other side – they say that it is exactly the album "Brand New" of exactly Skhid-Side that is the best jazz music album of 2005 in Ukraine. Everybody will decide by himself how much it corresponds to the reality. Jazz is a too wide field for tastes to give the possibility to call something the best. But I think that irrespective of personal likings, everybody agrees that this album is really high quality and high professional. It is impossible to say about the music of such level that it is, for example, Ukrainian. It cannot belong to some certain territory or state – it belongs to the world. As the title promises, the album has turned out quite strange – but in a good sense. This is the strangeness that can only be afforded by good, versatile musicians – otherwise, originality may easily turn into farce, showing off. This did not happen here – one virtually feels with one's skin in what a thin, delicate way all of that is compiled.

On the one hand, there seems no be nothing superfluous – even Aleksandrov, oddly enough, has not added too much pepper, even though he knows how to do it at the level of "excellent". But on the other – there is no room for concerns, everything is polished to shine (although, I must say, at concerts the quartet also sounds so smoothly that sometimes it seems almost unbelievable)...

"Swing Cocktail" is a present for all those who love the emotions of "live" recordings and, respectively, concert features of performance of evergreens. Moreover, this time the purely saxophone composition has been expanded – on the album, you will have a chance to hear the clarinet, piano, bass, and drums. They do not sound in every piece – in this case, these are rather spices.

The album is a collection of concert recordings – and here, you will find not only jazz evergreens performed by the saxophone quartet, which would be quite natural. As evident from the title – "Classics & Jazz", half of the album is composed of classical pieces – Bach, Purcell, Bizet – and this is, admittedly, very specific pleasure.

...the silent poetry of the atmospheric, almost supernatural winds appeared against the background of clear, transparent rhythms and sometimes fluctuating, changeable bass and key lines. This music seems to pull into some mystic circle, however – it also tears, transforms it with sporadic emotional splashes, does not let it calm down melancholically, provokes attention.

Неплохо, но и не хорошо. Все это было уже сотни раз, качественно, но ничего нового. На концерте СУПЕР, а слушать запись нет смысла.

Альбом характерен именно для этого ансамбля. Поэтому уверен, что он очень нравится тем, кто любит Схід-Side, и наоборот. Мне очень нравится за уровень джаза, за мастерство Дмитрия Александрова, за то, что ребята своим творчеством создают вполне определенные оттенки в современном украинском джазе.
Успехов и новых интересных альбомов.

Приобрел данный альбом, о чем очень сожалею. Не говорите мне про качество, у джазовых ансамблей качество я воспринимаю так же, как штаны без дырок на заднице-естественно и нормально, это обсуждаться вообще не должно. Ни одного интересного инструменталиста, ни одной неотработанной идеи. Ничего, о чем можно сказать brand new. Для Украины вполне сносно, но не более. Чертовски жаль потраченных денег.

В мене цей альбом уже декілька місяців.
Загальне враження дуже приємне - якісний запис, багате звучання, цікаві мелодії - я був приємно здивований звучанням.
Альбом дійсно джазовий - порекомендувати його можна було далеко не кожному другу, вимагає уважного слухача.
Саме дивне в альбомі це його назва. Так, колись це був новий альбом, а яким він буде через декілька років? Я сподіваюся що це не був натяк на те, що Схід-Side більше не буде випускати нових альбомів.
На жаль, для того щоб видати такий відмінний альбом знадобилася допомога спосорів - їми виявилась компанія Kvazar Micro.
