Actually, immediately after the establishment of "Kozak System," they announced their collaboration with Taras Chubay – but given the related nuances, there was a certain doubt about that the enterprise would go beyond the frame of a few concerts. But here it is, the tangible fact – a full-fledged joint album. And what an album! It should be noted at once that the union of Chubay and KS has produced something third as an output – it is significantly different from their previous works. The basis of the album is the Ukrainian folklore in the entourage of Jamaican rhythms, although in the course of the work they added a diversity of other spices to it: both in the details of the arrangements, and in the form of the lyrics by Moskalets and Svydnytsky. But in general – the work sounds remarkably easy, atmospheric. It would seem that with such a title – and also with that design – one should expect something like "The Ukrainian Heroic Songs". But it turned out differently. Intuitively, the basic idea of the album is seen as: the movement towards one’s roots and further, deeper, wider – requires work. But who says that work is something hard and joyless? It may be – and probably should be – different: happy, calm, and confident. So it sounds in "Self-Direction Songs".
