The song and dance ensemble Darnychanka was established in 1962 in Kyiv near the House of Culture "Khimvolokno". The ensemble propagates on a high professional level the best examples of the national art heritage of a variety of regions of Ukraine and the achievment of contemporary native art. The Company manifests with scenic means the autonomy and characteristics of the Ukrainian melody and choreography.
"Damychanka" is well known in Ukraine and abroad. The ensemble performs on first rate metropolitan stages, as well as in the remotest corners of its homeland. The group frequently exhibited Ukrainian folk art in Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, France and in the Czech Republic.
The Company provided the sound track arid participated in a host of Ukrainian films, like "Evenings in the cottage near Dykanky" and in the television serial "Roksolana".
