Myron Yusypovych

Maestro Yusypovych comes from Ukraine, where is engaged as Conductor with the Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre (82 orchestra members, 60 choir members, 70 dancers, 42 soloists and 26 artistic support staff). During the seasons (1994-1996, 1998-2002), he served as its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. From 2002 to 2007 Maestro Yusypovych was Principal Conductor of the K&K Philharmoniker (DaCapo Musikmarketing GMB, Austria). From 2004 to 2007 he auditioned, rehearsed and conducted the K&K Opernchor.

Maestro Yusypovych began his conducting career in 1982 and since that time has led over 50 different operas and ballets. As of July 2007, Maestro Yusypovych has conducted 102 performances of G. Verdi’s Aida, 87 performances of P. Tchaikovsky’s Iolanthe, 64 performances of G. Verdi’s Nabucco and 55 performances of P. Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

Maestro Yusypovych has been musical and artistic director of many opera productions including: G. Verdi’s Aida, Nabucco and La Trav.iata, P. Tchaikovsky’s Iolanthe and Eugene Onegin, P. Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, R. Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, N. Rimski-Korsakov’s The Tzar’s Bride As conductor he has had several successful and highly acclaimed tours with his opera and ballet productions with the Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre: of Italy in 1996; of Austria and Germany in 2000, 2001 and 2002; of the Netherlands in 2001; of Poland in 1992, 1994 and 2004.

Since 1982 Myron Yusypovych conducted more than hundred different pieces with symphony and chamber orchestras in concerts and festivals in Russia, Romania, Poland, Italy, Germany, Canada.

In 2005-2007 as a permanent guest conductor with the Lviv State Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine) amongst others Maestro Yusypovych conducted: L.v Beethoven Symphony ¹3, P.I.Tchaikovsky Symphony ¹4, G.Mahler Symphony ¹5, D. Shostakovitch Symphonies ¹8 and ¹15., L.Janacek Rapshody for orchestra "Taras Bulba".

Under his musical guidance (2002-2007), the K&K Philharmoniker and K&K Opernchor have toured some of the major concert houses of Europe : in Germany - Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Konzerthaus and Philharmonie in Berlin, Die Glocke in Bremen, Alte Oper and Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt-am-Main, Herkulessaal Residenz in Munich, Beethovenhalle in Bonn; in France - Palaos in Strassburg; in Switzerland - Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano; in Denmark - Tivolis in Copenhagen.

Maestro Yusypovych has held term appointments at the Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Perm State Opera and Ballet House, Russia. He has guest conducted at the State Opera Theatres in Ukraine - Kyiv, Odessa; in Poland - Gdansk, Opole, Katowice, Krynitsa; North Osetia- Vladykavkasz, Moldova - Kishinev and Canada - Kitchener-Waterloo, Mississauga.

M. Yusypovych began his musical studies on the violin and piano. He graduated from the Drohobych College of Music with a Diploma in Violin Performance and Choral Conducting and from the Lviv Academy of Music, where he specialized in operatic and symphonic conducting. For two years, he worked under the guiding hand of Yuri Temirkanov, Music Director at the Kirov (Mariinsky) Opera and Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Maestro Yusypovych’s recordings include: P. Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, op.35 with Stephen Sitarski and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, recorded live at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; Opernchore I with choral excerpts from G. Verdi’s Aida and Nabucco, G. Bizet’s Carmen, R. Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and R. Wagner’s Lohengrin; and Opernchore II with choral excerpts from M. Lysenko’s Taras Bulba, A. Borodin’s Prince Igor, P. Tchakovsky’s Queen of Spades, G. Verdi’s Ernani and La Traviata and R. Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde recorded with the K&K Philharmoniker and K&K Opernchor (Germany). Due for release, in 2008 are Opernchore III and Verdi-Gala, both recorded live during performances in Herkulessaal Munich and Gewandhaus Leipzig , Germany.
