It is always nice to introduce on the web site something exclusive – well, and this time the nicety is even a double one. First, as of the moment of its creation in 2000 this was – and, it seems, still is – the only female
a capella jazz quintet in Ukraine (it is interesting that Oksana Ryabokon became the organizer of the Beauty Band – being a former participant of the
a capella ensemble Jazz-Expromt, on the basis of which two more famous teams appeared in their time:
ManSound and
JazzEx). Secondly, the album was released in 2002. Honestly speaking, we no longer even hoped to see it in our catalogue. Currently, such
a capella Ukrainian CDs as "Don't Forget..." or, say,
"Interlacing" are a real great rarity. Moreover, if you keep track of the modern op-scene, it will be interesting for you to hear in jazz surroundings the voice of Susanna Dzhamaladinova – since 2009 better known as
Jamala...
Speaking about the content, let us be brief: this is unusual enough. Sometimes – quite an unexpected expression. One feels the strength, potency – but to some extent latent, not completely polished yet, and this is piquant in its own way. Sure, as of the moment of creating the recording, the team was very young – therefore, it does not appear perfect. But, in all events, it is really interesting to listen to the album – not in the least due to the perceptible sincerity, honesty of performance.. By the way, there is a hope that a new album of Beauty Band will be released in 2010 – we are looking forward..
