"This disc consists of two parts. The first one is authors’ and folk songs with modern arrangements. They involve such folk instruments as the old-world kobza and the wheel lyre, as well as the Ukrainian ancient modal melodics. At first glance, it may seem that some of the music themes are Oriental melodies, but in actual fact they are old Cossack tunes... The second part – kobzars’ songs performed with the accompaniment of the old-world kobza. It should be emphasized that the kobza and bandura – are different instruments: strings on the kobza’s neck are pressed, while on bandura’s – no. I.e., the bandura is a harp-like instrument, while kobza – a lute-type one. The kobza is an ancient Cossack instrument, but structurally perfect and meeting all challenges of the contemporary music culture.
