Vechersky V. Ukrajinski monastyri."Unknown Ukraine" series. (Ukrainian Monasteries)
"The book is dedicated to Ukrainian monasteries as ancient centers of spirituality, culture, education of our people, as well as outstanding architectural ensembles, with which the history of Ukraine and its specific regions is connected. It discusses the basic rules of establishment, construction and structure of Christian monasteries, their charitable and cultural activities, destruction of monastic ensembles during the totalitarian regime in the twentieth century, and their current revival. Most of the book is devoted to stories about major, the most famous and oldest monasteries in all regions of Ukraine and all confessions – Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Pochayiv and Svyatogorsk Lavras, the Armenian monastery Surb-Khach in the Crimea, the Catholic Dominican Convent in Lviv, and other monasteries in Lviv, Kyiv, Lutsk, Chernihiv, Lubny, Pereyasliv, Putivel, Poltava, Novgorod-Seversky. In these stories, special emphasis is on those historical figures and historical events that are associated with specific monasteries."
