Sax Kings are, in fact, a very young quartet – but this is exactly the case where young age and experience do not contradict each other. The band includes true professionals, who have the experience of lots of performances within different groups with quite a diverse repertoire. Well, and within the Sax Kings project, the musicians seem to have decided to organically combine all of this experience. The album is a collection of concert recordings – and here, you will find not only jazz evergreens performed by the saxophone quartet, which would be quite natural. As evident from the title – "Classics & Jazz", half of the album is composed of classical pieces – Bach, Purcell, Bizet – and this is, admittedly, very specific pleasure. Moreover, performed this way, classical works develop a transparent, almost jazz flavor – as the jazz pieces, the other way round, get specific "academic" gloss...
