The idea to unite the works of the composers Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius and Felix Mendelssohn in one collection "From Romantic Times" was by no means accidental. The Norwegian Grieg and the Finn Sibelius are considered founders of the Scandinavian romantic school. At the same time, Grieg's suite "From Holberg's Time" and Mendelssohn's Octet in E flat major go hand in hand with classical traditions and harmonically complement each other. All three composers – Grieg, Sibelius and Mendelssohn were wonderful at orchestration and that is why they often adapted their choral and chamber music for orchestra. This debut album from the "Kyiv Soloists Play" series is in a way a true anthology of orchestra transcription.
