"The first disc from the series of digital photo albums on the history of Kyiv. This is a unique collection of photos and postcards with views of the city covering the extensive period from the beginning of reconstruction of the capital destroyed during the Second World War till the end of the 1960s, when the majority of central streets and squares already looked as modern Kyivites are used to seeing them now. The authors of the compilation intended to resurrect the spirit of the epoch of the 1950s-60s, so that representatives of the senior generation could immerse into the pleasant memories, and young people could see the city that no longer exists. The shots were collected in various archives, some of them are published for the first time. On the photos, you will see the post-war Khreschatyk, first wide-scale capital new constructions, municipal transport of the Soviet period, the streets and squares, in which, probably, you spent your childhood. We've decided to preserve the original photos and tried to avoid any judgments in captures for the shots. The project has included about one and a half thousand of photos and one hundred and forty postcards. There are brief comments for all of the photos, as well as the date and a reference to the archive or the collection. The disc contains convenient startup software for PCs on which Windows and Mac OS are installed.
