"No other figure in the Ukrainian history so deeply and so uncompromisingly divides the modern Ukraine as Stepan Bandera. Moreover: no other Ukrainian historical figure causes such a storm of emotions in Ukraine's closest neighbors – Poland, Russia and, to a lesser extent, Israel and Germany; and well as in the countries where there is numerous Ukrainian diaspora – in Canada and the USA.

This book contains materials of three professional discussions on the Bandera phenomenon, which have recently been held by the Ukrainian and foreign historians and essayist. It is important that the compilers do not priviledge here any of the many views regarding the place and role of the OUN leader in the Ukrainian and European history, while all materials of the discussions are offered in their fullest. Thus, which position is closer to the reader – it's left to his / her discretion."
