"The book covers the martial art of Slavs in the times of their "historic debut". The dynamic changes that took place in the Slavic world during the several centuries were largely determined by their military activity. The purely military aspects are considered against the background of the features of everyday life and social order of Slavic tribes in the early Middle Ages, as well as in the overall context of the events of the Great Settlement of Slavs in European territories. Because of the limited amount of source materials available for reconstruction of events and phenomena of the time, the author used archaeological materials, information from the fields of linguistics, ethnography, etc.The book is intended primarily for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the early Middle Ages, and in particular in the initial phase of the history of Slavs. However, we hope that it will also be of interest for more professional and meticulous readers: historians, archaeologists, students specializing in history."
