Frankly speaking, this is the first time that I have got an opportunity to listen to the best El Kravchuk's songs, as previously I knew his early works only superficially. It becomes clear now why the singer became so popular in his time with the audience credit still unexhausted. This is the music that is based on beauty, rather than fashion – it is the search for harmony, rather then direct ways to the purse. There is something inexplicably sincere, up to naïveté, in them – it has unexpectedly reminded me of
Iryna Bilyk's early songs. It appears rather obvious that in his young days El Kravchuk was influenced by synth-pop and neo-romanticism. Even if it does not sound as toughly consistent as the
Skryabin band, and not as motley and tart as
Ivan Samshit, it is still quite charming. The songs are quite beautiful and have with a truly bright lyrical hero making you sympathise with him. The disc also provides a one hundred per cent explanation for El Kravchuk's recent album called
"Vertinskiy" – within some strange vibrations, these two singers seem to be incredibly similar to each other...
