Aleksandr Saratsky. SaraBanda. (2+)
Maybe, there are not that many instruments as self-sufficient in solo sounding as the grand piano. Certainly, masterful performance on any instrument can enchant, but the grand piano... still, jazz, not in the last instance, began with it, with ballroom pianists and ragtime – all the rest appeared a bit – but later. On the other hand, sounding of the grand piano is very closely connected in our consciousness with classical music. It seems to me that it makes it possible, if one wishes, to combine academic music and jazz traditions when composing pieces for it – and to receive really interesting results. Olexander Saratsky in his new album "SaraBand" adds the third ingredient to the two mentioned above – Ukrainian folklore. Very correct, timely approach – and successful implementation. As a result, we hear cool European jazz with bright, sated paints of folklore motives. Once again you get convinced that at a touch of a professional the grand piano turns into a really universal instrument. The organic combination of the three music languages – results in appearance of a new language. It is a sort of music "Esperanto" – and, as far as we can see, its progress through the globe acquires an increasing scope. Ukraine is not an exception, and it is nice.

Myroslav Levytsky. Session in Banff. Rollston Hall (live). /digi-pack/.

Myroslav Levytsky, as known, is one of the brothers who founded the jazz group "Braty Bluzu", which is significant for Ukraine. Today we offer to you to deeper, more attentively estimate Myroslav both as a composer, and as a pianist. Because, first, he just deserves that, and secondly – because what if not a solo album creates the best opportunity for this?

Vagif Mustafa-zadeh. One Day in Kyiv.

Masterly patterns painted in the air by gentle movements of fantasy and skill are extremely tender and tempestuous at the same time. They resemble the southern heat reproduced at the transparent windowpane by frost and rime.
