Finally, we have it – approximately two years after release of the Polish variant, the Ukrainian release of the joint album by Yuri Andruhovych and the researchers into psycho-music from Karbido group saw the light of the day. A strange mixture of ethno-jazz, dub, avant-garde rock and ironically sarcastic melodic recitals – no, this list of ingredients, in actual fact, explains nothing. One should listen to it – and this, at least, should once be heard. Better – more than once. Musically, "Samogon" absolutely does not resemble the album "Songs by Mertvy Piven", with which it has a few texts in common – and this, in spite of all my love for the latter, is no doubt a plus for the former. Moreover, in the case when the text's author really wants to deliver it expressively – nobody would be able to put accents and pauses more to the point than him, and Andruhovych – wanted and did that. As a result, the texts acquired the bright third – after individual reading and their performance with Misko Barbara's voice – life, and some bitter smiles have become completely obvious only now. Such sort of social meditation without emotional anchors. But the most pleasant thing is to realize at some instant that the album is interesting indeed regardless whether you understand the words. Other mechanics already work here – that is a space of unexpected harmonies, some alchemy of intonations that distracts from linear advancement along the senses. Completely relaxed tension... What else does one need? "Samogon" is a talented work, and no more chatting. We recommend it. Anton Jozhik Leyba (Hedgehog)

..Anyway, the album "And I am not a Moscovite" convincingly illustrates how cleverly one can make fun of the Soviet influence and chanson (in the post-Soviet sense) miasma in the modern Ukrainian culture without resorting to brutal methods. Well, almost without it. Only by irony and, above all, self-irony – sometimes quite tough...

The performance concert by Oleh Skrypka and Les Podervyansky "Humanists" took place in December, 2000. Actually, 10 years after, in January, 2011, the performance got a new life... This recording is the case of an exclusive creative collaboration of two personalities significant for the modern Ukrainian culture.

This recording is the case of an exclusive creative collaboration of two personalities significant for the modern Ukrainian culture. It is a pity that Les Podervyansky does not sing here. Instead, Oleh Skrypka actively participates in duping the plays, and this creates an additional comic and grotesque effect.. Published for the first time.

During the recent years, Gogol Bordello has become, probably, one of the most popular eccentric bands in the entire world – while it plays not quite, so to speak, commercial music. Though, on the other hand, in these songs so much is mixed that the definition "gipsy ska-punk" does not convey even a half of it...

The album is really queer, its style is "for one’s soul". To the question "for whose one?" we answer: a hippie’s one, whatever this word may mean. It is a man's dialogue with the air, when the woman has already left, but her image is still melting in the mirror. And you are in the middle of all that – what other explanations do you need? There is nothing. A hangover philosophical song.

This disc creates its own specific atmosphere, tender and impudent at the same time, it smells the streets, along which maidens defile dressed in clothes you can not see in our time. You know, this is a very pleasant feeling – the feeling of presence which appears while listening to this disc.

Yuriy Zdorenko & Hash spin up – and in quite an unexpected way. Actually, what could seem after release of their debut mini-album? That Zdorenko decided to cook another poignantly hot dish based on the recipe tested in the "Borsch" project. And what actually turns out?

...And – freedom, needed in treatment of the form and details. This is what this album is comprised of – well, and a jolt of haphazardness, to spell out in words the somewhat absurd lyricism of the world capable of joyfully and sadly beautiful acts. Even if it doesn't (?) make sense. Exhale and inhale, mind and heart, because otherwise – it does not work, it does not dance.

..on the one hand – the fantasy of jazz musicians. And on the other, all these laces of motions and patterns are thought over and embodied so confidently and easily that this ease allows one to not focus too much, but skip and let it go to the back of one’s mind right away. Instead, one listens to the main melodic line, the beauty and the flexible power of the voice..

...a mysterious story of Stanislaus Perfecki – a poet, a traveler, and a performer who embarks upon a journey from Lviv to the West, and ultimately emerges in Venice, the City of Ghosts. There, he experiences a series of incredible adventures and falls in love with Ada Cytryna, his interpretress. Being forced to part with his beloved woman and unable to fulfil his special top secret mission, Perfecki vanishes..

..there are things that "penetrate" even without special training – and this album deserves attention no matter how well you're familiar with the blues. As it is played extremely deliciously – with appropriate conciseness, but not dryness. Because it is played by young jazz musicians, hence "Hypnotized!" has incorporated features of both blues and jazz..

Very transparent, juicy, quiet and confident and yet full of irrepressible life – this is what this work appears like. Stylistically, it continues the trend including the albums "Black" and "Red" – the pure jazz-rock line, with no direct immersions into the lounge or symphonicity. But in a much softer, tender version.

First, "Braty Blusu" have long ago already – and absolutely deservedly – become a living legend of the Ukrainian jazz-rock. And, second – and this is, probably, even more important – the album is really good and interesting. Interesting, foremost, due to its ambiguousne...

I could say something about the reflection of the musical universe here, as several musical trends and styles got skilfully and gently entangled in this album. Still it seems to me that it would not be groundless to speak about the reflection of the Universe itself, as it is a musical stream, which is characterised by generality.

From ballads to dance, from folklore through art rock to meditation and jazz – I would call this world fusion, as a lot of roots from the whole world have intertwined here. However, all the plays have their common root: the basis is creative re-consideration of music of Crimean Tatars and other Black Sea peoples.
