...if we could hear what we say – probably, we would keep silent. But – we do speak. And what is then left for our words but for the echo of our pace? What is then left for our eyes but for memory? And who are we then if not prophets? – for we walk in a circle, that is why we as though know everything in advance. And only from time to time we step with our both feet in clear water of death – only then we see clearly that circles spread, and we stay... It somehow reminds radio plays of the times when TV was not yet so ubiquitous – happy times, however – but, at the same time, it elusively differs from them. To a great extent – due to lyrics by one of bright modern Ukrainian poets and prose-writers, Serhiy Zhadan. Grotesque and phantasmagoria interlace with naturalness of so minor details that they resemble violent fantasy – it is one side. And freshness, sharp piercing of thoughts and observations, some indescribable tenderness together with the ability to look right into the eyes of truth – it is the other side. Tense-and-relaxed internal rhythm, which sometimes transforms into external rhythm – rhymes. This is as if a charcoal drawing – only meaningful details against the empty background. Add here two flows that are not less interesting. One is voices of actors of the Studio Theater "Arabesque". You do not feel any decorations, any actorship in them, everything is true. And this must be not easy. And the second – music by Kharkiv Klezmer Band, which is considered one of the best Klezmer collectives of the world. It not frequently goes to the forefront. But, instead, fills dusks with all the riches of shades of wisdom somewhat sad in its smiles, which is inherent in this music. ...and even if we do not see each other, but only our reflections in the eyes of the interlocutor – that's ok. When they are clear, we will see in the end – circles spreading... Anton Yozhyk Leyba (Hedgehog) Mykhaylo Barbara – music, voice Stanislav Rayko – violin Yuriy Khainson – accordion Artem Kolenchuk – double bass Hennadiy Fomin – clarinet Natalia Tsymbal – voice Valeria Poljanskova – voice Pavlo Savel‘jev – voice Yuriy Chebotar‘ov - voice

..these are anyway not flashes or explosions, but – light fog, hints, mid-tones, mid-shades.. Heat and cool interweave here rather whimsically – one only needs to make a little step aside to be inside, in the heart of the music, and for it to appear in one's heart.

As the title promises, the album has turned out quite strange – but in a good sense. This is the strangeness that can only be afforded by good, versatile musicians – otherwise, originality may easily turn into farce, showing off. This did not happen here – one virtually feels with one's skin in what a thin, delicate way all of that is compiled.

On the one hand, there seems no be nothing superfluous – even Aleksandrov, oddly enough, has not added too much pepper, even though he knows how to do it at the level of "excellent". And on the other – the organism works so smoothly, without failures, that the entire album literary flies at one breath...

"Fever" is a studio work. So, on the one hand, there is no living "breathing of the audience", the proper concert experience. But on the other – there is no room for concerns, everything is polished to shine (although, I must say, at concerts the quartet also sounds so smoothly that sometimes it seems almost unbelievable)...

"Swing Cocktail" is a present for all those who love the emotions of "live" recordings and, respectively, concert features of performance of evergreens. Moreover, this time the purely saxophone composition has been expanded – on the album, you will have a chance to hear the clarinet, piano, bass, and drums. They do not sound in every piece – in this case, these are rather spices.

The album is a collection of concert recordings – and here, you will find not only jazz evergreens performed by the saxophone quartet, which would be quite natural. As evident from the title – "Classics & Jazz", half of the album is composed of classical pieces – Bach, Purcell, Bizet – and this is, admittedly, very specific pleasure.

"Brutal pop power" – so they call it. But there is a great temptation to also add other words: post-rock plus acoustic acid jazz with trip hop education – something like this, probably. However, all these names do not contradict each other – because music like this as it is means going beyond the limits of specific style...

...the silent poetry of the atmospheric, almost supernatural winds appeared against the background of clear, transparent rhythms and sometimes fluctuating, changeable bass and key lines. This music seems to pull into some mystic circle, however – it also tears, transforms it with sporadic emotional splashes, does not let it calm down melancholically, provokes attention.

It sounds as very delicate, intelligent combination of clear feelings and attentive reflections. All through the time while the disc sounds, one has the haunting feeling that the musicians realize themselves and the space around literally at every second – and are able to instantly react to its every motion, because they have inside a full degree of freedom and mastery.

...just before one's eyes. That is, when listening to, for example, the play "Two women who have not seen each other for a long time" – you will clearly see the women, and a small square where they met, the color of their hair and temperaments, will be able to discern the voice of each of them. Such expressiveness of performance really thrills.

Belarus bands famous here are specific in their artistic, nonlinear attitude to arrangements, self-irony and – they are somehow particularly enlightened, I guess. When one listens to them – sometimes it seems that they are singing the anthem of the Sun, facing the dark wall of the ancient forest. And Vuraj in this regard is no exception.

...the album at once creates elated, festive mood – but in a surprising way. In the correct way. Because, although about a half of the compositions can hardly be called merry ones – a smile is very expressly felt in them. Somewhere dim, somewhere transparent, somewhere dreamy, somewhere thoughtful – but it is present in each piece, and it warms.

"Red Cardell" wished to create an album open for the whole world. As a result, French chanson was mixed with African rhythms, Ukrainian authentic singing – with Oriental, Asian melodies, Celtic archaic – with elements of trip- and hip-hop. And all this together laughs, dances, gets a bit sad, makes love...
