Trojisti muzyky Prykarpattja ta Bukovyny. Ukrainian ethnic music.

There is some general impression of this entire story. A simple impression. Thank God, there still exist people on the earth who in contrast to most of us not only listen to songs. These are the people who sing. These are the people who make recordings.

It is one thing when you listen to music like that only because it is interesting for you to know what kind of music it is. But it is quite a different thing when you listen to it because you are captured by the virtuosity and singularity of performance - only then it becomes really interesting for you. Only then it becomes interesting for you why you haven’t got interested in it earlier. Such is the case with this particular disc. The recordings presented at it capture you both with the skill and beauty of performance. It is meticulous – this is exactly the word, which may describe it. As for one of the performers presented here – Vasyl "Mohur" Hrymalyuk, people say that he plays violin better than the devil himself. Still, other musicians make a pleasant impression, too. If you listen to this recording sitting, then a moment comes when you notice that you have already started jumping on you seat keeping time with music. Seemingly, haven’t we heard troyisi muzyky before? It turns out to be – we haven’t. At least, I myself haven’t heard anybody like them before. Or, may be, I haven’t listened properly.

...music recorded at the CD is really various, cheerful and alive. I would like to stress – alive. Forty one tracks – forty one groups from the whole country, and at that there’s no synthesizers here. It is, I’d rather say, a force...

Just great, Troisti Muzky consists of cymbali, violin and drum. You can't get bored with this music. You can listen to it loud for emotional effect as when the cymbali start getting louder. It's also a very relaxing music when you play it subdued while reading or working on the computer. It's also good background music when you're sitting around with your friends enjoying a drink.

These recordings take me back to 40 or 50 years ago when my father used to order Ukrainian records from the Ukrainian Book Store in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. These were primitive "field" recordings, to say the least, but the heart, soul, and passion of music came through loud and clear. I wish my father could hear this music today with the vastly improved technology.

By the way, my father was a Hutsul.

Кльово!
Суперові записи, мені відразу сподобались!
Я такі давно шукав.

А чи будуть нові записи? Наприклад центральної України.

This is an excellent recording of traditional Hutsul music. The musicianship is very strong. One highlight is the variety of pieces presented. Vasyl Hrimalyuk is a great fiddle player and I wish there was a full CD devoted to his talent and knowledge of this music !
