"In 2007, their search for extraordinary repertoire led ConCord to cooperation with the Department of Ancient Music of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after Tchaikovsky. The ensemble took part in reconstruction of music manuscripts of the 17th-18th centuries, they performed several part motets from Kyiv sheet music collection for the first time.
Part concerts and motets are the top of the Ukrainian baroque music. Solemn and sublime, part singing style so succinctly represents the Ukrainian baroque art, with its inherent contrasts, dynamics, and expression.
Two types of part compositions are common, and it is ensemble part pieces (for the composition of 3 to 6 voices) that are usually called motets. Part motets presented on the disk – those for 5 and 6 voices – come from two collections: Kyiv and Serbian ones." (information from the official press release)
