The Ukrainian ability to laugh – including on oneself – in recent years has gained, one could say, strategic importance. Sure, laughter may be different – it is not always good-natured. But Natalia Falion with "Lisapetny Battalion" does not grab poignant political topics – she mocks at herself and laughs at some quite ordinary, routine things. And, you know, this is good. Noticing the funny in the ordinary is one of those features that make it possible for us to remain reasonable people even in difficult situations. The album "Dear Chicks" does not contain subtle jokes – these are quite straightforward pieces. Sometimes even a bit rude – well, that's how it is. This is a sort of a useful reminder that all of us – no matter how complex we seem to ourselves – are just people. Funny and sad living creatures.
