Halyna Menkush

Halyna Menkush, a famous bandura player made herself known to be bright and original in various spheres of creative activity. Therefore, it is natural that the name of this National Artist of Ukraine, this glorious representative of the Cossack's art, brilliant concert performer and teacher, beloved among numerous listeners, is widely known in Ukraine and all over the world. Being deep and substantial, her art attracts with emotional excitement, spirituality, sincerity and ingenuous reflection of various feelings, cogency of rendering the conflict within the souls of lyrical heroes by means of imagery in the tender lyrical songs and musical stories, psychologically deep, full of drama and tragedy, that tell us about heroic and patriotic deeds of historic personalities as well as hard times faced by native people...

It should be stressed that her art activity is extremely versatile: breathtaking play, participation in solo performances, dubbing of films and television performances, musical composition for bandura, programmes recording, pedagogical activities, etc.

Her repertoire, so diverse in terms of genre, is notable for its novelty and originality and deep emotional performance of Halyna Menkush catches on with the hearts of numerous listeners, people of different ages and nationalities: from Poland, Germany, Russia, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Canada, USA.

It is significant that Halyna Menkush was awarded a Diploma of Honor "To approve the prominent contribution to the 20^th century progress", her name is included to the "Life of Prominent People" reference book and to the publications of the American Bibliographic Institute.

In the course of our country's independence Halyna Menkush was awarded the titles of Honored Artist of Ukraine (1995), National Artist of Ukraine (2002), and in 1997 Halyna Menkush was recommended for the National Prize of Ukraine named after T. Shevchenko.
