"The book is focused on studying the most western branch of the Ukrainian ethnicity. The author describes in detail the economic practices, folk crafts, residential and sacral buildings, food and folk art of Ukrainians in Slovakia. The analysis is richly illustrated with pictures, images of exhibits of the Museum of Ukrainian Culture in Svidnik (Slovakia), maps and schematic drawings of interior designs.
Myroslav Sopolyha writes about that in eastern Slovakia the Ukrainian presence is visible everywhere: in the local dialects with the clearly noticeable Ukrainian foundation, in local place-names and surnames that clearly indicate their Ukrainian origin, in the refined forms of wooden churches crowned with multiple lattice crosses, in church tunes, traditional folk architecture, and local cuisine..."
