Jonych & Tsypa band. Kvasyty v Kvasakh. /digi-pack/. (Boozing in Kvasy (in Booze))
Who is Jonych? A legend has it that this is a lost and happily re-discovered brother of Myroslav Johnych Kuvaldin – one-eyed, as if Odin, sharp as a colic in one's side, and serious as a fraudster's business. Honored since 1853. And so it happened that he also loved singing – well, in his own way, nothing in common with The Vyo. Thus, the music by Jonych is a kind of a grungy mix of banter with chanson, wedding amateur performance with a funeral orchestra flavored with the Carpathian zest – what in the Balkans they would, perhaps, refer to as turbo-disco, if the drum machine operated more zealously. But it turns out even lyrical – and sort of a Ukrainian version of loving to sing in an Irish pub. With noticeable piety for humor, including spicy one.

Antin Mukharsky, HraBlya band. Mama-Anarkhia. /digi-pack/. (Mama the Anarchy)

Today it is called Severe Ukrainianization. Because one can definitely say: this punk chanson does not care about tolerance, its objective is to extract to light of the day all the obsolete cliches and to pretty well trample on them. In a loud, energetic way – and with such joyful rage that will make one either writhe, or eventually start laughing and recover...

Vasyl Hontarsky, Yuriy "HoboT" Galinin. Vasya and Hobot. (premium release, digi-pack).

Vasyl Hontarsky's solo album (premium release, digi-pack). Acoustic variations on the theme of the most famous pieces by "Vasya Club", folk songs and rowdy cover versions of hits by Eric Clapton, Tom Waits and Goran Bregovic.
Domestic price: 152.90UAH, International price: $13.90USD

Orest Lyuty. A ya – ne moskal. /digi-pack/. (And I am not a Moscovite)

..Anyway, the album "And I am not a Moscovite" convincingly illustrates how cleverly one can make fun of the Soviet influence and chanson (in the post-Soviet sense) miasma in the modern Ukrainian culture without resorting to brutal methods. Well, almost without it. Only by irony and, above all, self-irony – sometimes quite tough...

Gogol Bordello. Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony.

During the recent years, Gogol Bordello has become, probably, one of the most popular eccentric bands in the entire world – while it plays not quite, so to speak, commercial music. Though, on the other hand, in these songs so much is mixed that the definition "gipsy ska-punk" does not convey even a half of it...
Domestic price: 152.90UAH, International price: $13.90USD

Vasyl Hontarsky, Yuriy "HoboT" Galinin. Vasya and Hobot.

The album is really queer, its style is "for one’s soul". To the question "for whose one?" we answer: a hippie’s one, whatever this word may mean. It is a man's dialogue with the air, when the woman has already left, but her image is still melting in the mirror. And you are in the middle of all that – what other explanations do you need? There is nothing. A hangover philosophical song.

Victor Morozov, Batiar-band "Halychyna". Til'ku vi L'vovi. L'vivs'ki batjars'ki pisni. (Only in Lviv)

This disc creates its own specific atmosphere, tender and impudent at the same time, it smells the streets, along which maidens defile dressed in clothes you can not see in our time. You know, this is a very pleasant feeling – the feeling of presence which appears while listening to this disc.
Domestic price: 141.90UAH, International price: $12.90USD

Yuri Andrukhovych, Karbido. Cinnamon (with "India" supplement). (CD + miniCD). /digi-pack/

Possibly, Andrukhovych did not exaggerate too much when he said that he did not expect any significant external resonance from his work with Karbido – he just had a lot of fun in the process. But sells-out during the whole "cinnamon" tour – are already a fact, and a pleasant one. Because it proves once again that the "underground" in the today's culture is not dust-covered nooks of outsider...

Yuri Andrukhovych, Karbido. Samohon. (special Ukrainian release).

Finally, we have it – the Ukrainian release of the joint album by Yuri Andruhovych and the researchers into psycho-music from Karbido group saw the light of the day. A strange mixture of ethno-jazz, dub, avant-garde rock and ironically sarcastic melodic recitals – no, this list of ingredients, in actual fact, explains nothing. One should listen to it – and this, at least, should once be heard. Better – more than once.
Domestic price: 300.30UAH, International price: $27.30USD

Yuri Zdorenko & Hash. Na zdorov'ja! /digi-pack/. (To Health!)

Yuriy Zdorenko & Hash spin up – and in quite an unexpected way. Actually, what could seem after release of their debut mini-album? That Zdorenko decided to cook another poignantly hot dish based on the recipe tested in the "Borsch" project. And what actually turns out?
Domestic price: 130.90UAH, International price: $11.90USD

The VYO. Zeleny. /digi-pack/. (Green)

With this music – there are all the chances to swim to the summer almost unnoticeably, without straining where this is not needed. Ukrainian reggae with a mischievous smile and a hardened core. Just put on repeat – so much so that your hand reaches out for that – and you should not interfere with it.
Domestic price: 141.90UAH, International price: $12.90USD

Luiku. Yeher Mayster. /digi-pack/. (Yeger Meister)

Luiku is rather ironic dance music with a very pronounced folk component, the accelerated Ukrainian gypsy romance supplemented with Turkish, Polish, Romanian, and Hungarian lines. The music, besides being catchy (although there are also a couple of relaxed pieces), is also very, so to speak, convex.
Domestic price: 130.90UAH, International price: $11.90USD

Mad Heads. 8. /eco-pack/.

It seems that the musicians just played the songs as they wished, and, due to all their previous experience, it turned out multicolored. That is, there are elements of both rockabilly, ska, and ethno, and honest rock without frills – but there is no issue of purity of style, everything just works for the sake of the resulting drive. Works well..

Ot Vinta. Pilotka. /digi-pack/. (The Forage Cap)

..there is so much drive that one can hardly believe its "acousticity". And one of the causes of such sound is the truly rich set of instruments used by the musicians during the recording (guitar, banjo, harmonica, kazoo, ukulele, flute, kozobass, xylophone, etc.). Very rich and bright – just like always with "Ot Vinta"..
Domestic price: 240.90UAH, International price: $21.90USD

Braty Hadyukiny. Made in Ukraine. /digi-pack/.

...this is about us. The ordinary people in the changing times, when it is both scary, and funny, and one wants to go faster, while – one needs to move carefully. Because nobody but us will live through these times for u... That's how it is put in the song "Play!": "Dad taught me – my dad, the last Jedi – play, play on your drymba, play the song of joy..."
Domestic price: 163.90UAH, International price: $14.90USD

Dzidzio. The super-popular album HaHaHa.

..the sound of Dzidzio, to some extent, can be seen as witty banter with reference to the early Skryabin – but, since it's music with a smile, do not look for the neoromantic haze here. Rather, it resembles ironic exercises by Braty Hadyukiny. And if you look a little bit closer, songs by Dzidzio resemble kolomyika...

Kuku Shanel. Polubelaya-poluchernaya. (2CD). /digi-pack/. (Semi-White/Semi-Black)

This is stylish music, and not only due to the nice pastiches. Everything is just done simply – in the good sense, when the output sounds so easy and smiling that you never think about the previous hard work.
Domestic price: 207.90UAH, International price: $18.90USD

Vpershe Chuyu. PryamoTok. /digi-pack/. (ForwardFlow)

As far as we know – this is the first album in Ukraine (at least, among officially released ones) dedicated to bikers. Dedicated not only formally, but also thematically. However, the disc "Biker Sich" has been released just recently – but it was a collection of favorite songs, not the author's dedication album. A significant difference.
Domestic price: 124.30UAH, International price: $11.30USD

TIK. Vesilny. (Wedding)

...the trademark self-irony is still there. To make sure – the first song from the album will be enough. Though, indeed, the rest of the songs also meet this sort of a definition: irony plus clownery. Need I say that both the first and second are not limited to smiles and jokes, subtle and not too subtle?
Domestic price: 130.90UAH, International price: $11.90USD

Braty Hadyukiny. Schaslyvoi dorohy! /cassette/. (Good Riddance!)

Audio cassette/ ..The forth album of Hadiukiny. Grown-up album.

Antin Mukharsky. Snizhana Yehorova. Village Glam. /digi-pack/

It is very cool that Antin Muharsky has not abandoned his field research of rural glamour in the Ukrainian context. Moreover – it seems that he has decided to undertake for this good cause a real family contract. But the main thing is that Muharsky has again succeeded in adding to the dozen of songs of the album a double portion of positive pepper..
Domestic price: 153.12UAH, International price: $13.92USD

Nouta iz "Detsy". Rusyns‘ky rok.

If one listens to the texts – and one does need to listen – it becomes clear that this is just banter punk, that's it. Well, and outside all of this is wrapped in a sort of "all-in-one", bright kitsch, which mixes professionalism, mockingly truthful curtsy to rural tapeurs, quite a bit of quotations from world hits plus the specific feature in the form of various auxiliary noises.
Domestic price: 207.90UAH, International price: $18.90USD

Siryk B.A.N.D. Zadovbalo!!! (Sick With It!!!)

Siryk B.A.N.D. is as though the voice of such metropolis in which everything is mixed up but has not got lost. So, elements of synth-pop, hip-hop, psychedelics, punk, ethnic hints coexist incredibly harmoniously – one should have truly impartial views in order that this kind of mixtures sounded qualitatively. They have them.
Domestic price: 207.90UAH, International price: $18.90USD

Antin Mukharsky. Zlokohoochy Man.

Actually, once such songs were characteristic of only one country in the world – but since then the Earth has become considerably more rounded. Consequently, maybe, there is nothing strange in that we observe appearance of sheer Ukrainian songs in the country style. In the end, we have appropriate landscape...
