Above the Karayets River. Project "My Ukraine. Bervy".
Rivne village is located In a picturesque place on the Southwest of Podillya, in a valley of Karayets river. Behind a truthful legend, the name of it occurs from accommodation in ravine district - in a ditch. The compact disc "Above the Karayets River" includes the most characteristic examples of traditional folk songs that have been preserved in the village Rivne of Vinnytsya Region. The compact disc presents calendar songs - the most ancient songs that accompanied the rites connected with the work year of peasants, wedding, lyric, and also Cossack and soldier's songs performed by the inhabitants of the village of Rivne. The voices of these plain village people include their entire lives: their birth, marriage, love and separation, bad fortune and family happiness, pride for their heroes and the beauty of their native land. These songs are a peculiar way of knowing the history of the land, the people's aspirations and feelings that came to us from past epochs in perfected artistic forms. We would like to believe, that into the future, the folk song will echo above the hundred-year-old willows above the River Karayets. This CD is witness to the eternal unity of the human soul and the world surrounding it.

The information is from the booklet to a compact disc.
