Premium release, 32-page booklet with detailed information and unique, rarity illustrations."The traditional Ukrainian wedding of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries was actually a dramatis ritual happening, occurring over a period of a few days, in which the marriage ceremony was publicly affirmed by the village community. As foreseen by ritual, the cast of characters included: the prince (groom), princess (bride), the elder, the entourage etc. Two female choirs – one group from the groom and one from the bride, would provide opposing commentary to the ceremony, similar to ancient religious cults. Singing was considered a means of magical influence on people and mythological otherworldly powers... The editors of this anthological album of Ukrainian wedding, inspired by the vast spectrum of wedding music heard among village singers and musicians at the cusp of the 20th sought to publish its best examples, by taking the listener through all the rituals. The music selected covers practically all Ukrainian ethnographic zones – Naddniprianschyna, Polisia, Podillia, Volyn', Halychyna, Carpathian mountains, Pidliashia, Slobidschyna, Kuban' and the Steppe zone... The panorama presented in this collection shows the incongruities of regional styles, as well as the different levels of traditional preservation – the listener will find that currently, some parts can be only sounded by the voices of elderly women, who are capable of supporting the compound three-voiced music "fabric". What are the origins of these rituals and melodies that seem incomprehensible to modern-day city dwellers? (...)" Iryna Klymenko, Candidate of Art Science (information from the polygraph of the disc. You will find the full text in the booklet, the text is published in Ukrainian and English )

...when listening, you feel as if you were not exactly a listener. It looks as if you came to stay for some days, and the family turned out to be so sincere and so hospitable, that the hosts did not just receive and greet you as a guest, but also started to sing a song, moreover, not singly, but all together. So, you feel so warm, that you are reluctant to leave...
