"Fairy-tales by the classicist of the national literature, one of the greatest poets of the 20th century Volodymyr Svidzinsky were published in journals as early as in the 1930s, and then for decades they were unjustly forgotten, along with their author. Only in recent years, the Ukrainian reader has re-discovered the amazing fairy-tale world of poetry by this "quiet genius".

Plots of some of his fairy-tales – "Panpipe", "Wonderful Cane" – are familiar to us all, and we can even hardly say when we first heard them. Another one – "Club" – reminds several long known fairy tales at once without repeating any of them. However, still other – "Nanana Bosele", "Revenge of the Sun" – impress with their exotic nature, although they also bear a trace of the millennial fairy-tale tradition. However, when narrated by the incomparable master of the word, they become primordially fresh, as if they were touched by the "wonderful cane" of a magician..."

Tirza Atar. Vid viyny plachut. (They Cry Because of War)

These poems were composed by Israeli poet Tirza Atar. She composed them long ago, in the mid 70s. Sure, not about our reality – but about theirs, for the war has long been grown into normal lives of people there. And it is creepy that these poems – written on behalf of a seven year-old Jewish girl – are so much in unison with our reality..
