"The Song of Roland" is a French epic poem which was frequently used as a source for numerous literary works that originated in European middle ages. The story told in the poem is based on an artistically transformed historical incident, the defeat of the rear guard of Charlemagne in Roncevaux Pass. The work depicts the realities of that time in a bright and vivid way.
The new Ukrainian translation is made from Old French original and in close compliance with its style and metre by a famous Ukrainian writer and public figure, a Shevchenko Prize Laureate professor Igor Kaczurowskuj."
