William Golding. Boh Skorpion. (The Scorpion God)
"The Scorpion God" is a stylized story of the life of ancient Egyptians that takes place on the hot coast of the Nile in the 4th millennium BC. William Golding reconstructs the Egyptian kingdom with convincing accuracy. However, the key thing is not the historical reliability but the parabolic ethical and philosophical subtext, which looms in the text through the clash of naive traditional beliefs and seditious statements contradicting each other. "The Scorpion God" is a parable that reveals unexpected perspectives of the human nature and his/her interaction with the state."
