"Pochayna" choral chapel. Rahmaninov. Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.

I don’t need to tell you who Sergey Rahmaninov is. It is also clear what is "Liturgy over St. John Chrysostom", irrespective of the author. And as Rahmaninov had not just a huge talent, but also the ability and opportunity to transmit through his music sounding of the spheres not only terrestrial, but also heavenly ones – his interpretation of this piece deserves special attention. It is in vain to try to describe this music – it contains something superhuman. But this something is so full of beauty and love that a human here grows above oneself. And also, certainly, it is necessary to remember that the "Liturgy" is performed by "Pochajna" choral chapel – the master of masters. You should agree that it frequently happens that you listen to a piece – and get enchanted by the performers’ mastery. But here the performers’ mastery is so perfect that one pays no attention to it – you listen to the piece, get enchanted with the piece. Personally I, frankly speaking, am not a great expert, but I believe that any person is capable of feeling real beauty – and here nothing prevents from feeling it. As for me, it is a worthy criterion – and "Pochajna", as ever, sustains it.
