Let the name of this collection not bewilder you – it offers virtually nothing so sweet as honey. Because the essence of the kolomiyka is, actually, far not sweetening some awkward moments of life. The kolomiyka must not comfort the unhappy one but, the other way round, mock at problems bitterly and frankly – so that once and forever one forgot about the desire to pity oneself complaining of wicked fate. In the end, this is just a sane approach, because tears, as known, cannot quench grief. Therefore, no wonder that here it is possible to hear a bitter word about politics, and about variety art, and about sports, and about the open market – life constantly grants new topics for mocking songs. However, the main topic is still relations between a man and a woman – and, clear thing, kolomiykas feel free speaking about things that you would not find in other folk songs. By the way, this collection also contains authors' kolomiykas – although they are, certainly, a minority. And they do not differ too much from folk pieces. Well, quite modern words may be heard here sometimes, but the themes – remain unchanged...
