"We hear songs from the beginning of our life. A mother sings lullabies to her baby and weaves her unique world like a lace. Folk culture has been developing for many centuries. Our ancestors knew the laws, according to which our world lives and evolves. They transformed their world outlook into the extensive system of symbols with the universal knowledge encoded in them. Folklore genres integrated, consolidated and accumulated the traditional information generated by a nation. First and foremost, we mean ethnic identity, historic memory, mythology and rites, and material culture. And its main "tool" – special language which not only facilitates communication but also shapes the figurative vision.
Songs recorded in the field between 1980-2012 are presented for the first time.
A part of repertoire is performed by a children's folk group "Tsviten". A jewel of the Ukrainian folk song heritage are the arrangements made personally by Anatoliy Avdievsky – maestro, composer, choirmaster and art director of the worldwide known National Ukrainian Folk Choir named after H.Veryovka. We will hear a flawless balance of voices and rich sound in each song, which will become a true confession." (information from the official press release)
