It is difficult to believe, but the eldest of the records represented here was made in 1953. But that is a mighty thing – archives, you can find just anything there. You should only have enough imagination to choose a topic – and the material, as it appears, is sufficient. Actually, that is why "Gold Collection" may claim a certain kind of inexhaustibility – the National Radio Company of Ukraine has huge archives. Well and we, in our turn, have the opportunity to enjoy the rare beauty of music. About which, for other circumstances, we might even have never heard – in particular the younger generation. And the thing is not only the authors, though the names of Verdi, Glinka, Pushkin, Dunaevsky, Berns certainly weigh a lot. But a beautiful piece needs to be beautifully performed – and here we have on the foreground Hmyrya, Kozlovsky, Shkurgan and other real, legendary masters. One listens – and understands why the whole world applauded to these people. Besides, the theme of today's disc is close to, as a minimum, half of human population of the planet. Judging by everything, it was also close to the performers represented here – these songs are performed with appreciable enthusiasm. Thought, they are rather simple. Therefore, believe me, no special preparation is needed to listen to these records with delight. You only need attention – but it will be thrilled, it seems to me, starting from the first notes.
