Taras Zhytynsky. Jikhaly batjary. Halychyna Chanson. (Batiars Were Riding)
While the first part of this album's title reminds, mainly, Victor Morozov and the batiar-band "Halychyna", the second one is directly associated with Severyn Palydovych – Erko. And here it is necessary to say that the first association has absolutely nothing to do with the album "Batiars Were Riding" – almost nothing to do with. While speaking about Erko – truly so, the parallel is fair enough, because here you will hear authentic chanson. Not as Erko has it, clear thing, – because that is about the culture, aesthetics of the senior generation. But neither such as the Russian variety art has accustomed the public to – in the song lyrics by Zhytynsky, there is no famous (or notorious) prison lyricism in the ordinary understanding. While hooligan lyricism – can be found, for a batiar is never expected to be a law-abiding citizen, right? Though, Taras Zhytynsky was not afraid to crack a joke – therefore, he attributed to his songs the sounding very similar to the abovementioned Russian chanson. But let these jokes not distract your eyes – just listen to the texts, and everything will become clear. Chanson in general is an ambiguous phenomenon. And in such varied interpretation as Zhytynsky offers – it also gains additional overtones, semantic implications. Here, one really has the desire to listen more attentively, to understand in more details, because – both the theme is interesting, and it was implemented far not thoughtlessly.
