Anchiskhati Choir has rather a ramified touring geography, therefore you could have already heard it before. In Ukraine, for example, during the recent couple of years it has already performed at a few festival sites. Actually, the concert recording of Anchiskhati's performance in Kyiv at Gogol Fest 2008 was transformed into the disc that you see now. Georgian polyphony is probably able to charm the audience in any case – whatever songs might be performed. But when spiritual, festive pieces sound – this really grows into a real mystery of joyful harmony. Therefore, it is nice that this album contains, apart from the rest, songs for Christmas and Easter. However, the objective of that concert program was to demonstrate to Ukrainians the widest possible palette of Georgian singing – so, festive, lyrical, feast, humorous and other songs from various regions of Georgia, instrumental melodies, as well as solo singing could be heard there. Not the whole concert fit into the disc – the theme of the album is exactly polyphony, that is why a few tracks had to be left behind. Besides, as this is a concert record, some pieces had to be sifted out because of insufficient quality. But as a result – we have a good live album with extraordinarily beautiful songs. We hope that it will improve moods not only for those who were at that concert among the audience in the hall – but also for all those who value the light harmony of folk music in general.
