I first heard music from "Medium Cool" album not on a disc but at a presentation concert within the concert project "Jazz-Kolo". And already after a few minutes of the concert I knew for sure that by all means I was to have this disc – and that it would not be lost among others. Actually, that's just as it happened. Strange: although you could hardly characterize the album as quiet, unemotional – it leaves the feeling of tranquility. As though you have washed you face with morning water... The music carries warm coolness, quiet cheerfulness – here, this is revealed even clearer than on the debut album. Natalia Lebedeva composes wonderful, delicate melodies – and, it seems, does not try to be a rigid dictator. That is why in development of melodies, and in sounding of the rhythm section, one can hear not only confidence, but also – internal freedom. Igor Zakus named this music very feminine, refined – and I would add that in it the heart and mind sound equal, do not argue, search for harmonious interlacing. And discover it – not only in sounds, in the whole atmosphere. This album not just sounds, it constructs a certain space inside the listener – light, fresh, concentrated. Ready to act.
Anton Jozhik Leyba (Hedgehog)
The disc represents most of the compositions from the second album by Nataliya Lebedeva "Medium Cool", two compositions from the album "Paints", as well as three plays that have not yet been released before. As a special guest, Artem Mendelenko took part in the concert. He was not involved in recording of the studio variant of the album "Medium Cool" – but on that evening his saxophone sounded as though he has always been in that music. However, how could it be otherwise? When people understand each other, time retreats to the background...Nataliya Lebedeva – grand piano
Igor Zakus – bass
Alex Fantaev – drums
special guest: Artem Mendelenko – saxophone
