One can only regret that Vivienne Mort band have only released a mini-album – and be happy with that it turns out so rich, colorful, and just cool. Very delicious – made with a sparkle, humor, and imagination. On the one hand, there are so many minor "tricks" that the band’s professionalism raises no doubt. On the other – Vivienne Mort have managed, with all of this hard work, not to lose the vigorous, even somewhat playful spirit of disobedience. As while there are no poignant social lyrics – the lyrical protagonist of these songs is clearly if not in opposition, then certainly apart of the routine society. Laughing, crying, and dancing – as if in a cabaret setting, but thus surprisingly genuinely. So it sounds. And, you know, it is a very special joy – it cannot be fully comparable with any of the domestic projects. There are some individual points of intersection – but not so much that one could go for a list of the names. This is impressive in a positive sense. One wants it to be continued (and, as possible, the previous recordings to be re-issued as well).
