Lyric collection... It seems sometimes that the whole Ukrainian variety art of the second half of the last century could be collected under this title. I do not know why it was so, but it is a fact – in those years in our variety art there were considerably more songs with beautiful, polished melodies. Now it is different. Rhythms, polyphony, special effects – not always, but quite often the melody is no longer the main thing, it shifts to the background. It can be explained – in fact, in general, rhythms of our life have become considerably quicker. It is only a pity that new speeds sometimes interfere with complete realization of vocal talents of our performers. Quite different it was a few decades ago. If a person did have voice, he/she also had the opportunity to fully demonstrate all of its charms. Melodiousness of songs allowed it. Maybe, that is the reason why we still listen to these records with pleasure? You should agree that it is hardly possible that the thing here were nostalgia only. Some of my friends who prefer this kind of songs were born after the majority of them had already been composed. Consequently, it is not only nostalgia. What’s your idea – what is that?
