Bayko sisters

The second half of the 20th century witnessed the Bayko sisters in vocal trio (Danyyila, Maria and Nina) honouring many concert stages, both in Ukraine and around the world. Their crystal, clear and harmonious voices, in particular their exceptional feeling for the poetic melodies of Ukrainian folk songs and the style of Ukrainian composers, these features contribute to the group's being a hit with audiences, and provide them with a high profile in the Ukrainian and foreign press. The trio's performances in Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Baltic states, Russia, Canada, the USA (UNO in particular) and other countries heralded the triumph of a Ukrainian song. Distinguished by receiving the Tar as Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine for the high performance standard the Bayko Sisters trio has inspired a number of Ukrainian composers, among them Stanislav Lyudkevych (1879 - 1979), My kola Kolessa (b.1902), Anatoliy Kos-Anatolsky (1909 - 1982), Yeuhen Kozak (1907 -1988), Platon Mayboroda (1918-1989), Oleksandr Bilash (1921-2002), Bohdana Fills (h. 1932).
