Ukrainian bass Taras Shtonda was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. He graduated from Kyiv conservatory in 1993. Taras Shtonda is soloist of Kyiv Opera from 1992. He received the 1st prize at Maria Callas Grand Prix (Athens) in 1997, the 2nd Prize at Francisco Vines Contest (Barcelona) in 1997, the 1st Prize at Sviridov Competition (Russia) in 2001. He performes at the stage of Kyiv Opera many principal roles among which Taras Bulba (Taras Bulba by M. Lysenko), Ramfis (Aida), Grande Inquisitore and Philippe (Don Carlos), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Kochubey (Mazepa), Don Basilio (Barbiere di Siviglia), Il Commandatore (Don Giovanni), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), King Rene (Iolanta), Prince Igor and Galitsky (Price Igor), Boris Godunov and Pimen (Boris Godunov), Mephistofeles (Faust by Gounod).
Ukrainian bass Taras Shtonda also performes at the stage of Bolshoi Opera in Moscow. Since 2002 (when he made his debut as Dossifey "Khovanshchina") Taras Shtonda is also a soloist of the Bolshoi Opera. Taras Shtonda's roles at the stage of the Bolshoi Opera: Boris Godunov, Zaccaria, Dossifey, Ruslan, Kochubey, Prist from "Katerina Ismailova", King Rene and other roles.
Taras Shtonda also performes at the stage of Prague National Theater. He also tours to Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Danmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Brazil with opera performances and concerts.
